This blog was a blog for school and starting point for me to share my photography with the web, but since then a lot of changes have happened in my life as well as my photography, so I figured it's time to change my blog up. These are some engagement pictures I have shot lately over the past couple of months. Yeah, yeah, I know I haven't exactly been keeping up with my blog, but the blog took the back seat for awhile. My life and my future plans have been changing, not to get all deep, but I need a constant pay check and photography right now isn't doing the job or maybe I am not doing mine as a photographer, either way I am working at a veterinary hospital right now an I am enjoying it. I am considering continuing my education in a different field like vet tech, but I am so tired of school. I can't complain to much because I still get to do what I love most and that is photography. I am doing my first wedding in September! I am excited, but at the same time scared. I have heard all the horror stories of what can go wrong when shooting a wedding, but I can't wait for the experience. Wish me Luck!!!

Bacon Fest '10

A bacon-ee good time was had at Dad’s Garage March 27th.
Atlantans gathered for Dad’s Garage annual fundraiser. Over 100
attended to join in on the festivities and to listen to some tunes of
bands like the Nine Inch Neils. And I think the picture above is SOO-EE-T!

The Back Pockets @ WonderRoot

The past Tuesday I got the chance to go to an amazing show or shows at WonderRoot. The atmosphere was bliss with a side of creativity. I have shot The Back Pockets before for Creative Loafing, but this time just for the love of their music. They always have an amazing show bringing everyone together with beats and rhythm that are out of this world. Dark Dark Dark was at WonderRoot as well and I have to say I found a new fav band. Shooting Janet or Evelyn

This past weekend Evelyn, Lottie, and I went out to shoot some cool country barns. I told Evelyn to me my model and she was down for it. It was good seeing some of the classmates again and it felt good to hang with people that love to do what I do. We plan on going out again soon, possibly at night and using some cool lighting that we haven't used in awhile. To see more snap ya fingers!

Snow 2010

It snowed like crazy a couple of days ago! But like Georgia snow it comes and then the next day it goes. This was my first snow at my apartment and there were spots that had a lot of snow and lottie found one of them, haha!

Oh and just an update, I got the news back from the Photographer's Forum contest and I got honorable mention, which is pretty cool because there was a lot of contestants. But I still get published in Best of College Photography 2010, so that is really cool. I can't wait for what is next.....

Cahoot With the Root

Yesterday night I got the opportunity to shoot for Creative Loafing at Eyedrum Art and Music Gallery, which held Cahoot With the Root, a benefit for WonderRoot Community Art Center. It was a big turnout with people coming out of the woodwork to see live bands, art from all different medias, and performances. And let me just say it is nice to be out supporting and doing what I love; photography!

I was lucky to get the chance to shoot my good friend from high school and her Family. She has the cutest boys I have ever seen. We just stayed around her house for the shoot, cause she lives on a farm with a lot of land, which makes great pictures. This was my first time shooting a Family with a dog! I took over 100 images and only a couple turned out good, with the dog, Mya. I learned you have to keep your finger on the shutter, cause if you don't you will miss a great Family Portrait! Yeah, I know it's kinda late, but the day after Thanksgiving I got the opportunity to shoot Beth again along with her Family this time. It was very cold, but they're from Minnesota, so it probably felt like spring to them. In a couple of weeks I will be leaving my home of 21 years and moving to Duluth. I can't wait for this change. No more small town living! I will also be attending GSU for summer semester. I'm going for a Bachelor's in Art Studio where I will be taking a lot of art classes, sculpting, and of course more photography classes. I am so excited! So a lot of changes coming my way. Now to just find a decent job.

Hey peeps! I know its been awhile since I've posted anything, but I haven't been doing anything really exciting lately. I've just been working for this company archiving documents, while getting to shoot every now an then. I also recently applied to GSU and waiting to hear back. I hope for good news!

This past Sunday I went to downtown Buford (which is a great little place to shoot!) and took engagement pictures of Beth and her Fiance, and later on I found out that he was the goalie for the Gladiator's hockey team! Post Portfolio Show.... What Next?

So if you didn't know this past Saturday at Art Station was my classmates and my portfolio show. It was a great night and a big turn out and everyone loved the big prints, and I just so happened to sell two of my prints that really made my night. Two years of long nights, the making of some great friendships, an a lot of hardships all lead up to this day and I'm glad I hung on for the long ride, cause there were days that I just wanted to throw in the towel. I will miss everyone's face and personality that really made the photography program a great one! Now what next? I'm currently freelancing with Creative Loafing and taking portraits here and there, it's something for now... I guess. But I also have big dreams, so I plan on continuing my education at Georgia State (hopefully everything works out). So to end this the two years I will never forget, but I"M DONE!!!!! Whoot Whoot!!!!!!!!!!!!!

German Bierfest

Yesterday I shot the German Bierfest. It was my first freelance assignment with Creative Loafing. So SIKED! The "world's greatest beer" was available at the 6th Annual German Bierfest at Woodruff Park. Atlantans flocked to the late-summer event with friends, family, and colleagues to enjoy a great glass or two (or five )of German culture. Over 30 different German beers were poured. The past weekend I shot the Grimm Reaper in a nearby awesome cornfield. And it might be going into my Section E (specialty). I gotta lot of cool ideas that I can't wait to set up and shoot for this section. I was going for a southern life photojournalistic style kind of a thing, but it has develop more into an illustration of this life style, so my specialty is going to be Illustrative Photography. Can't wait to be done with all this and see my images printed and hung!

My sister recently got a tattoo and I had to take a picture of it, because I thought it was beautiful and meaningful to me, to us. But on another note I also took this picture to take to the tattoo artist and see if He likes the image and perhaps help him get some business with my picture and He can pay me in return, well we'll see how it goes. This past weekend I decided instead of looking for somewhere cool to shoot I would just hit up my backyard and shoot my now empty pool. I asked myself who would I find in a pool like this and it hit me, probably a redneck! So I shot it. I'm going to use it for the next assignment in Portfolio Development (section A). Bittersweet Summer

So far this summer has been bittersweet. I have a pool, but can't jump in it. It is summer, but I'm in school. It's my last quarter of school, but it's my last quarter of school with all these great people. I recently got engaged, but my Mom's not here to enjoy it. I have learned that this is life, but with the sad or pain comes the happy. I'm looking forward to my bittersweet summer and what it has to bring, cause at the end of summer I'm going to be proud of what I and my peers have accomplished!

Each summer, there's always music festivals that seem to try to outdo each other with line-ups, logos, and locations but few are as big and crazy as Bonnaroo. Held in Manchester, Tenn. every year since 2002 on a 700-acre farm called the Great Stage Park, this year's 4-day festival featured Nine Inch Nails, TV On the Radio, Bruce Springsteen, Phish and dozens of others. And I made a little dipstick for ya to show you the dirty and fun, put it together and you got the one and only Roo!

The Mattress Factory Studios hosted a Spring Open Studios art event on Saturday, May 16th, 2009 from 12 noon until 10 p.m. The group art show featured painting, photography, sculpture, and performance/installation art. Today In Madison

Today I went to Madison, GA with my fellow classmates and shot some architecture for high/low end assignment. The morning was pretty gloomy, but in the end it turned out to be a beautiful day. On the way back from Madison off highway 83 I found an abandoned plantation home. My dream. The picture above is one of many I took. I remember when you dressed me like a nurse for Halloween. I remember those great big bear hugs. I remember when we'd go for walks with Blackie down the dirt road and talked about all the wonderful things that were going to happen, I remember when they didn't happen you would be there to cheer me up. I remember every gift, not realizing you were my gift. I remember I Love Lucy, Mary Tyler Moore nights, the Nick at Night nights, those were the best. Sweetwater 420 Fest

This weekend was the Sweetwater 420 Fest and it was a blast. There was plenty of Sweetwater beer and awesome music like Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, food, art and eco-friendly workshops. On April 15th I went to the Capitol for the Tea Party. It was my first Tea Party, and not my last. It was a crazy turn out. I've never seen so many different people come together for the same reason. Country Drive

This past weekend I went on a country drive, yet again. I love going on country scenic drives, cause most of the time I find something that is work shooting. While on the drive I was also on the look out for some cool architecture for class and I think I found some. I found some buildings with a lot of character, some old country homes, and some old colonial homes. I hope I get the chance to shoot them. I also found an architectural photographer that I like, Helene Binet. Her work is contemporary, but that's what I like about it, something different from the norm.

A Day in Atlanta

Yesterday I was heading to my friend Brandon's BBQ, and I got into his neighborhood and someone's house was smoking. It was completley engulfed with smoke, so I just had to shoot it. Creative Loafing Internship

So I officially got the internship with Creative Loafing Atlanta. I am so excited, words cannot express how excited and grateful I am. I start April 8th! I know I'm going to learn so much from Joeff Davis and Taralynne Pixley. And each week I'm able to submit some photos for the Time and Place section in Creative Loafing, so if any body knows any thing going on that's cool or worth a picture let me know. First 100 Get Free Meal

Monroe finally got a Chick-fil-A. It opens tomorrow, people have been camping out for two days now for the grand opening in hopes of being the first one hundred, so they can get a free meal. It's pretty insane. To bad I don't have a tent, but if I did I don't think it would fit. It is crazy packed.

I Heart Road

So I'm driving to my house and on the side of the road there is a heart ballon just swaying as the cars zoom by. I had to stop and shoot it. I often see ballons caught in trees and runaway ballons in the sky, but never a heart ballon just floating on the side of the road. I wonder how it got there?. Any who I got a cool pic out of it.

This past Thursday I got the opportunity to shoot the Eighth Annual Ms. GECC Pageant along side Bob Connell. It was so much fun and I learned a lot. Flamingos for Felines

Today I went to Discount Picture Framing to mount a picture for my commercial class. I normally notice the building right away, because it's bright yellow, but today it was covered in pink flamingos. I asked why all the flamingos?! They are raising money for an organization to help animals, felines in particular. I donated 5 dollars and got to pick a flamingo to tag. I named mine Pinky! This past saturday I got the chance to shoot Jello Wrestling at Uptown Loft with Project 96.1. It was crazy! I've never seen jello explode in my face before until now. Next time they should try it Italian style with pasta. Any way to check more out go to my flickr.

Yesterday I was in Athens shooting a really cool dude, B Will. And yes it was rainy and overcast, but I said why not. I found some cool walls to shoot at and the rainy atmosphere added to it. I'm going to be shooting a lot in the next few days working on my re-do's for section c in portfolio development trying to get that winning shot!

And yes that is a Cocoa de Crispy cereal bag on my flash!

Today I shot Coach shoes for my soft goods/fashion assignment in advanced commercial. And no these aren't my shoes, they're my sister's, I'm not a Coach kind of gal. I think it came out nicely. So this week has been pretty crazy trying to get every thing done. But it's coming to an end in about week and half, and I still have so much to do, but it always gets crazy like this at the end of the quarter. Once again I have been shooting for my Portfolio Development class. This time for section c, which is portraiture, fashion, glamour, and wedding. This here is Ashlyn and she is the cutiest thing, loves the music. I shot in my friends house with all the windows open bringing in some natural light, but I guess it wasn't enough. This is what I do in my spare time. There's nothing else to do in the country except the occasional hangouts at Bi-Lo and the weekly chicken auctions, so I photoshoped. Abandoned Shoot

So finding abandoned houses and things is a hobby of mine, and the other day I went out driving around where I live with Lottie and found 4 abandoned houses. It's crazy and the stuff in them is even crazier. Old t.v.s, desk, clothes, I.D.s, halloween decorations, you name it it was there. There was one abandoned house that was to creepy to go in though. I think some ghost or something was in there, cause when we went in we heard doors shut. Next time we go out driving we might need some other people for back up. This is my first shoot for the beer, wine, and spirits assignment. As you can see this is a before and after, an some time in photoshop and it still doesn't look quit right. I had to scan the 4x5, because of multiple exposure problems. So today I reshot this assignment with a 4x5 Phase One digital back and after several minutes I came out with better results. 80's Night

This past Saturday I was at Uptown Loft (that's where I've been spending most of my time lately taking pictures and what not) and they had an awesome 80's cover band called Great White Lion Snake. Yeah. I had a great time. And while shooting the band I found out the guitar player, Josh in this picture is currently the bassist for Yellowcard. Nice side project! Still Life

This is my still life shot I took in Advanced Commercial. It's been a while since I had my hands on a 4x5 , so I had to get my brain and problem solving skills working again. I got it developed and the exposure wasn't great so I had to scan it, because I developed bother under and over (learned my lesson). Oh well, now I know how to work that scanner. Any way if you can't tell what it is, it's a stapler. I got my inspiration from the movie Office Space.

And while this is going on I hope Samantha Magroski, Demetrius Freeman, Peggy Attaway, and Rosiras Palmer have there camera's ready. I can't wait to see and hear about there time in Washington, D.C..

Yesterday I had a photo shoot with Aeisha in Atlanta. It went very well besides being like 20 degrees. I got to the point where I couldn't feel my camera and my poor model was freezing, because we were like 40ft up in a tunnel, but she was a trooper. That's when we took the shoot inside some weird office, and that's when I got this shot. She's not possing, but it's a cool moment and she's warm, you can tell she's happy. Photographers Settle Lawsuit Over Marilyn Monroe Images

Photographer Bert Stern has reached a settlement with the men he sued last year over possession of seven transparencies of his Marilyn Monroe photographs, according to an attorney for the defendants. Portfolio Review

I know I'm kind of late in posting this, but I recently had portfolio review and amazingly it went well. I did a lot of printing for this, and I'm glad. There were some pictures I printed out just because, and some of them got picked. Like the one above taken in New Orleans. I was shocked, but hey I'm not complaining. I can't wait to see what's in my portfolio at the end of this quarter!

So this is the second week of school and it's already getting busy. I am excited about my Portfolio Development class, and tomorrow is my review day. I wonder if any of my pictures up to this point are going to make it in, either way I still have a lot of work to do. And Advanced Commercial is going to be a tuffy, but I got some cool ideas. Anyway this quarter is going to be crazy, but I like crazy!

My Trip to New Orleans

My trip was one I will never forget. NOLA is a unique and beautiful city that has historically embraced the spirit of personal freedom that supports the growth of the artist, musicians and writers. At the Louisiana State Museum they have a really cool exhibit going on called Photo Nola, I wish I had time to see it! I just got word that I will be spending New Year's Eve and Day in New Orleans on Bourbon Street! I am so excited that's all I can say. I've always wanted to go there and now I get my chance on the craziest day of the year. I leave early Wednesday and I'll be back in town on Saturday. I hope I get some awesome pictures.

4x5 Scan

So I scanned one of my 4x5's today. It was just on a regular lexmark scanner nothing fancy, but I like the way it turned out. It looks more like a painting to me than a picture. But I know the up coming quarter (2009 woop woop) we're going back into the studio with the 4x5 and I'm looking forward to it. I got a lot of cool ideas and I can't wait to see how they turn out.

GIGAPXL PROJECT

It began with a seemingly simple question. As a designer and builder of cameras, what could one do that has not been done before? The question came on the heels of an earlier project which involved the design and construction of an astrocamera having a resolution of 0.01 millimeter across photographic plates that are 356 millimeters square. Recognizing this to be the equivalent of 1250-megapixel imagery prompted the question of whether or not anything comparable had been achieved in the context of landscape photography. Some back-of-the-envelope calculations concerning the performance of conventional large-format cameras indicated that it had not. Thus began a quest which has become ever more fascinating; namely the pursuit of full-color panoramic landscapes which contain prodigious amounts of information. So yeah, this is what I got for christmas!!! NOT! In my so far away dreams, but this would be killer. If I could only sell my Mom's house and my car this camera would be mine.
